Additions and Subtractions
2002 wood and flash cards
120" × 8" × 6”
I was given this set of flash cards some time ago. For some reason, I couldn't break up the set or cut them up, which is what I was accustomed to doing. I'd been reading about additions and subtractions and how subtraction is as important as addition in a physics, negative-space sort of way, and I just got the notion to somehow try to use the whole set of cards in a scale-like, see-saw fashion. Because the pieces are ten feet long, the bars of cards tend to move up and down rather slowly, thus contradicting the notion of "flash". I like that.
